Armatures

For all the side characters I built armatures out of aluminium and copper wire twisted together, and then I used small cut up sections of fibreglass fishing rods to simulate the bones of the characters, whilst leaving gaps between the fishing rod to allow the wire to still bend were the joints will be.

At the time I didn't consider the weight of the materials I would use to model the characters so when it came to animating the side characters were quite wobbly which made it tricky to animate, but I got around this problem by just adjusting their scenes so that they wouldn't need to be standing up or would be supported out of view from the camera.

I think overall my armatures worked quite well in the scenes as none fully broke and I was able to make some good movements with the characters in my film.

I forgot to take pictures of the armatures for other side characters before modelling over them but they are all similar to the one above.
